OPTIMIZATION OF PHOTOS FOR OMNI-CHANNEL SELLING

Omni-channel selling is becoming the norm, with customers preferring online stores. There are a variety of platforms on the internet that can be used for selling products. For this, you generally use product photos. However, optimizing the product photos for the specific platform is necessary. Sizes of the photos must be according to the requirements of the platforms. The sellers must stick to the image guidelines of the platform.

We are going to discuss the prevailing norms for the optimization of photos for online platforms. They include social commerce, e-commerce, and third-party marketplaces.

Photo editing is needed to get the photos optimized for omnichannel selling. While this can be done using online tools, outsourcing can be of immense help. Hiring a professional to optimize the photos will reduce stress and save time.

What are the image guidelines for third-party marketplaces?

All third-party marketplaces like Amazon, E-bay, Etsy, and Google Shopping have particular photo size requirements.

Amazon

There are no specifications of size in the image guidelines of Amazon. However, the page that appears when customers look for products on Amazon must have a photo of the product. This photo must show the entire product that is for sale. Amazon recommends uploading six variants of images from different angles.

E-bay

E-bay image guidelines say that one picture should appear next to the title in the listing. However, it says that up to 12 images can be uploaded per listing.

Etsy

Etsy allows you to upload up to ten photos with a resolution of 72 pixels per inch for each listing. According to the Etsy image guidelines, image orientation is essential for product listing. The first photo is supposed to be landscape or square. Etsy specifies an aspect ratio of 4:3.

Google Shopping

Eleven full-size photos can be uploaded on Google Shopping. It recommends that the images be at least 800 px square for the best results. Images should take 75-90 percent of the image frame.

What is the right size of photos for e-commerce platforms?

Shopify suggests that the sellers keep the width to height ratio for every image. The platform may also resize images to fit smaller mobile screens.

At Adobe Commerce, sellers can upload up to 15 product photos that may include a thumbnail, a small image, a base image, and a swatch. While the thumbnail should be 50 px square, the size specification for the small image is 470 px square.

How do you optimize the photos for social commerce sites?

A square format is allowed in Facebook Shops. The photo image size should be at least 500 px square, but a size more than 1024 px square is preferred. Like other platforms, Facebook Shops makes it mandatory that the entire product be shown in the image. The photo size requirement of Instagram shopping is the same as Facebook Shops. To produce ads on Pinterest, the images must have a 2:3 aspect ratio or 1000×1500 pixels.
